Mary Cairncross Park

A couple’s retreat in Maleny’s Sunshine Coast would not be complete without taking in the beauty of the Glasshouse Mountains. Just minutes up the road, with its beautiful walks through majestic rainforest where you can make friends with the pademelons and try to identify the many birds that live here, including the magnificent regent bower bird. Enjoy the new interactive educational information available at the new Rainforest Discovery Centre.

Kondalilla Falls

This beautiful walking trail takes you from the top of Kondalilla Falls, past rock pools and stunning views, down the escarpment to a picnic area. Kondalilla provides a beautiful nature walk, with plenty of swimming holes for a quick dip on a summers day.

Gardeners Falls

On Gardner’s Lane just off the main road to Maleny. Take your lunch and enjoy a picnic on the grassy banks of the Obi Obi Creek, or swim with the locals in the cool swimming hole below the waterfall. A great setting for your romantic getaway, you can cool off on a hot day in the waterhole and enjoy a picnic on one of the many picnic tables.

Food & Wine

The perfect treat for your romantic getaway as the hinterland is truly a foodie paradise. Visit one of the many wineries that the Hinterland has to offer. Why not indulge in a delicious cheese platter from the Maleny Cheese Factory to accompany your wine tasting? Don’t worry if you are more of a beer drinker, a visit to Brouhaha Brewery in Maleny will be on your to-do list. Try a degustation experience at a premier a la carte restaurant or casual dining at one of the many boutique cafes & coffee shops. You can enjoy fine dining at some award winning restaurants or maybe learn MasterChef secrets at a cooking class. The list is endless with many choices to make your retreat memorable.
